MICA Bike Share Launched This Week

In case you haven’t heard, you can now check out bikes from the fitness center! More info and photos of the launch here.

UPDATES

March 1st, 2010

Hello MICA Cycling -

Just a few updates and announcements.

1 The Students for a Sustainable Campus Group (blog) launched last Wednesday. If you are a full time grad or undergrad student you can check out a bike for 48 hours from the fitness center. For details go to their website or pick up the pamphlet. One of the benefits of joining the bike share is a 15 percent discount at Baltimore Bike Works. Photos of the Bike Share Launch here.

2 Rides. There’s been a drought of rides that always starts in November, but we want to pick things back up again. We’re open to suggestions for new rides, but you can look for official MICA Cycling rides starting again by the end of March.

3 Critical Manners, Last Friday of March. Look for details about this ride in the coming weeks.

4 Riding with Johns Hopkins team – Hopkins students ride pretty regularly throughout the week. If you’re looking for a riding partner or group for a longer ride at a good pace, you might contact them.

5 Bike-related radio show on Hopkins Radio starting next Tuesday – listen from 8pm-9pm via this site.

If you have ride suggestions, etc, anything you want to say, just reply here. Please forward this to other people you think might be interested in joining the club or who want to get on the email list.

September 9th, 2009

Thanks for all those who came to our ride last week. We rode out to Ft Mchenry Park. Next Wednesday, September 16th, at 2pm – we’re meeting outside the Main Building for a friendly, casual ride.

A flier will be posted soon.

If you can, please tell people about the ride! See you there -

First MICA Cycling ride of the year – Labor Day at 4pm

September 3rd, 2009

We will be meeting on Labor day (Monday, September 7th) at 4pm on the corner of West Lanvale and W. Mount Royal Avenue (that’s the corner on the Main Building lot) for a short ride that anyone should be able to handle pretty well. We will also decide distance based on who shows up, but the pace will be relaxed.

If you need repairs on your bike, lights, etc, we recommend visiting Velocipede or Baltimore Bicycle Works. Both are within a couple blocks of eachother and both are a very short ride or walk from MICA.
